Bio
Dr. Johnny Markin will work to develop leaders leveraging multiple strengths:
Experience - 30+ years of Christian Music Ministry in Canada and the UK, including 12 years of touring ministry, 20 years as Pastor of Worship at Northview Community Church, Abbotsford, BC, Canada; 3 years as an Adjunct Instructor of Worship Arts and Travelling Teams Instructor at Trinity Western University, preparing student teams for local church guest ministry as well as for opening on tour across the UK & Ireland with Rend Collective. He is currently Worship Director of Cloverdale Baptist Church in Surrey, BC, Canada.
Education - Doctor of Worship Studies (Robert Webber Institute for Worship Studies), an immersive, trans-denominational survey of theology, culture, history, and practice of the church in its worship. His thesis, Formed By Worship, sits at the core of the training manual used for the sessions.

Empathy - He has walked through many of the issues faced in worship and church leadership and can identify with the various challenges faced by worship leaders.

Teambuilding - Johnny has been involved in building and training worship teams in both church and university settings for many decades. He also developed a discipleship track at Northview Church that engaged musicians to serve their peers in worship ministry. These included everything from Children’s Praise Bands (where he co-wrote a Kid’s Praise Album), Youth, Young Adult, and adult teams.
Music - Johnny spent 12 years touring throughout the UK, Europe, and Africa, recording several solo CDs and worship albums. As a worship songwriter, he has had numerous songs published and recorded on projects. In 2005, he was nominated for a Covenant Award (Canadian P&W song of the year) for God Is Our Refuge. He has been involved in numerous conferences internationally, both as a worship leader and seminar speaker, including Spring Harvest and Grapevine (UK), Worship Together, Apologetics Canada, and Break Forth (Edmonton).
NEW ALBUM ANNOUNCEMENT: After a long hiatus, he has been back in the studio producing a full-length album of original songs entitled Light Of Day. It is an exploration of classic liturgy, creeds, and texts set to contemporary music in his unique style. You can stream it via your digital music provider.

Personal - Johnny’s personal interests include running, travel, watching sports, history, ethnic cuisine, family time, and getting whatever chances he can to keep up his conversational French and German! He is married to Darlene, father to their married children Jennifer (Collin), and Daniel (Elise). They recently celebrated the arrival of their first Grandchildren!
